Da’Leon was booked into Lubbock County this afternoon. Waiting on Tech’s statement. Huge blow to your expected starter. We are waiting for the charges. We’ll keep this updated as we find out info.
UPDATE, 3:45 p.m.: Ward's public info sheet on the Lubbock County Sheriff's website lists the charge as theft of something worth $2,500 - $30,000.
UPDATE, 5:53 p.m.: Attached are the reports from LPD.

This is simply sharing information, nothing official and not a report from RRS...
A very good source is telling us that Ward's one time roomate used his student ID to get into the rec and there is video evidence to back this up, meaning it will clear Ward's name.
This incident happened last year, police reports (see above), and Ward was detained after a routine traffic stop today.
We are chasing down more updates and will update as soon as we can, but wanted to share.

I spoke with Ward's lawyer just now, the charges have been dropped and the paperwork is in hand.
Ward was actually cleared in June, the police department somehow still issued the warrant - one hand not speaking with the other (? getting more info ?) - and Ward ended up being picked up yesterday.
The lawyer has emails from Tech Athletics saying he was cleared, this is one big mix up.
There is much more to this story, but we will post once we have the information together.

Ok, wanted to add some more information, at a very high level here...
Ward either lived or was neighbors within the same apartment complex as former walk on Christian "CJ" Hill, who is no longer with the program.
Ward's ID card is used to get into the rec center, Hill steals phones/etc and gets in trouble/arrested last Nov.
Due diligence within the court system goes on and Ward is officially cleared this past June, his lawyer holds the paperwork and emails sent to TTU Athletics.
This is the fuzzy part, no real clue how to report this, so stick with me...
LPD (or whoever) somehow still issue the warrent, they were going out to pursue outstanding warrants and this one for Ward made the list...he wasn't stopped for a traffic ticket, he was picked up on the warrant and taken to jail.
All in all, we will track more information but expect this to all play out quickly with a release from Tech/Tech Athletics.

Kirby just addressed the crowd here on Da’Leon. Said DA Matt Powell told him this morning the “charges should’ve never been filed.”
