RECRUITING COORDINATOR: J-Bob Thomas

THE HEADLINERS: J-Bob Thomas and the Red Raiders put together yet another exciting freshman class. The headliners from a position player standpoint include infielders TJ Pompey and Landon Stripling, along with Davis Rivers. Pompey is an impressive-looking 6-foot-4, 200-pound freshman who had a fantastic fall both in the field and at the plate. He’s expected to be in the starting lineup from the get go. Stripling is a 6-foot, 200-pounder, who hit consistently in the fall with a solid approach and is in the mix for the second base position, and Rivers has huge raw power and should be an instant impact guy … In terms of pitchers, Tadlock couldn’t stop raving about RHP Mac Heuer and RHP Parker Hutyra during fall workouts. Heuer is a 6-foot-5, 255-pounder, who showed elite stuff at times during fall workouts to go with a fastball up to 95-96 mph. He could very well find his way into the weekend rotation to begin the season, while Hutyra is a hard-nosed pitcher who was up to 93-94 mph with his fastball in the fall, and who also has a quality breaking ball and changeup.

CONTRIBUTORS: In terms of other potential contributors, keep an eye on RHP Chandler Coe. Coe is a 6-foot-6, 265-pound, freshman who has massive upside with a fastball up to 94-95 mph, along with overall nasty stuff when he’s clicking. Washington HS product and RHP Brady Trombello is another intriguing option to watch this spring … On the position side, Garet Boehm is a name to remember. Boehm is a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder, who showed some promise during fall workouts and will only continue to improve with more repetitions.
