Howdy Folks -
I don't post but a friend suggested I use the forum to kick start a conversation/debate and seek some life advice. I was recently laid off from an enterprise sales role at a large tech company, receiving a decent package that allows time for self reflection and an opportunity to be more methodical about my next endeavor. The "easy" route would be to find the next best position at tech company ABC and continue what I've been doing very well. However, what I feel drawn to and equally challenging/potentially rewarding is small business ownership. There's a generational transfer of wealth happening now and great opportunities to acquire a small business and bring my own values and skills to the table. I would love to hear from this community, and hopefully entrepreneurs about the good, the bad, and the ugly for each path. Is the risk worth the reward?
