YouTube TV - What am I missing?

So I’m an engineer, but I am not great at technology. I’m fact, I hate it most of the time.

I was gonna give YouTube TV a shot (free trial I was hoping), I download the app to my Apple TV, and it’s making me stream it from my cell phone? WTF? What am I missing? Why can’t it “run” from the Apple TV itself?
