I noticed while lurking again on TX. AGs that those aggies love them some West Texas. However the argument is Lamesa is West Texas while Lubbock and (edit.) Plainview are not (it's just the South Plains).
Which to me is nonsensical. They just don't want to admit they love West Texas and include Lubbock in that. If there is cotton, mesquite, cotton gins, sand blowing and beautiful weather with super low humidity you're in West Texas. It's also cultural and that culture exists all the way to Amarillo IMO.
The Panhandle and South Plains are geographical areas but the culture is most assuredly West Texas even more so than San Angelo.
Generally agreed by those aggies that San Angelo and or Eden is near the beginning point, included is Abilene and west of there. I guess I will be attacked and ostracized for some reason and ridiculed for whatever reason on this board but What Say YOU?
