On Broadway: Let the camp madness begin

Tis the season, my friends. Satellite camps begin on Sunday, as the Red Raider coaches will hit the road starting with two camps in DFW, a camp out in East Texas at Longview, two in Houston, and one to finish things off next Friday at New Braunfels for a central Texas camp. I'll be out there for all six camps, covering the ins and outs of each one, learning more about prospects while getting a chance to evaluate them in person.

This is hands down my favorite week of each and every year. Yes, it's a long week that's a definite grind, but it's really where I'm in my element. I get to watch prospects compete, connect with them on a face-to-face basis, and I get to see coaches do what they got into the business for. It's frantic, and seeing literally hundreds of players run through drills can be a bit overwhelming when trying to put names to faces, but there's just a thrill to it that I don't get from anything else.

As far as the camps themselves, the most talent usually shows up to the Longview camp out in East Texas, and it's a blast watching those guys fight, as they're all very blue collar and will try to win each rep tooth-and-nail. Then you have the DFW and Houston camps, which obviously have their fair share of talent as well.

It's just so much fun for me, and I'm doing what I love when I'm out there. I'm ready to get things rolling!

The Wide World: Could this be a pivotal moment for LeBron?

I've told everyone since the playoffs began that I thought the Warriors would win it all. They're a historically great team statistically, and they have one of the best players in the world in Steph Curry. I just don't think anyone can beat them in seven games, and that includes the Cavaliers.

But, what if LeBron and the Cavs do win it? James has been to an unprecedented five consecutive finals with the Heat and Cavs, but he's only earned two rings in the process. I don't think it's necessarily fair to judge him based off that, but it's obviously something that many of his detractors will point to when his legacy is weighed down the road. But, as I said, what if LeBron leads his native city to their first title in half a century against one of the best basketball teams in the last decade?

With Cleveland's major depth issues, Love out, and Kyrie playing hurt, it would be a sort of slaying-of-the-dragon moment, a role that LeBron hasn't been in very often throughout his career.

A championship like this would work two-fold in the big man's favor when arguing legacy. First, LeBron will have essentially done it with his team on his back, holding up that he is a true legend in the game. Second, Cleveland sports have been a running joke for decades. Bringing home a ring to the much-maligned city would create a fervor unmatched by many fanbases that would probably get LeBron a statue, receding hairline and all.

While I don't necessarily think it will happen, it's worth thinking about what a win like that would do for James in the overall picture down the road.

Alex Rodriguez's cousin just earned himself seven months in the slammer for his role in the South Florida steroid scandal.

Here's a fun look at Steph Curry and his jumper from Grantland.

Michael Fassbender will star in this upcoming rendition of Macbeth, which looks great from the first trailer.

Was Allen Iverson drunk during his "Practice" rant? According to this book, that's a big 10-4.

Power Rankings: Candy Bars

Seeing as I'm about to head out the door later today and head to the Metroplex for a few days before satellite camps begin, I'll certainly grab myself at least a road snack or two before I hit the road. So, I figured I'd rank my top five favorite candy bars in this week's power rankings.

5. 100 Grand - A good mix of chewy chocolate and caramel. Not my favorite, but a good change of pace.

4. Hershey's Cookies & Cream - A twist on the classic, I love cookies and cream ice cream, so you know I'll get down on the candy bar.

3. Snickers - One of the all-time mainstays in candy bars that's always good.

2. Reese's Fastbreak - Someone decided to finally put Reese's cups into a candy bar a few years ago. That many was a genius.

1. Twix - The perfect mix of crunchy, caramel, and chocolate, and that's why it gets the top spot on my board. There's not too much of any one thing, which is perfect.

Off The Reservation: Favorite summertime activities?

The summer is now in full swing, and while I'm always ready for the fall by the time August and September roll around, there's just something about the lazy days of June and July when the sun is out, the pools are open, and everyone just seems to be in a good mood. So, essentially, here's my question for you all: What's your favorite summertime activity?

Mine? It's unquestionably sitting out on the porch, preferably by the pool, with burgers on the grill and a big spread set up on a table for everyone to buffet-feast on. Good music in the background, a few cold brews, and the company of your friends and family. That's about the best thing I can ask for when it comes to a weekend afternoon of relaxation for myself.

So, what do you guys like? Going on vacation, a fishing trip, eating snow cones? There's plenty of answers, both simple and complex.
