I thought this might be an interesting discussion. There have been a lot of great athletes who could've been dominant for a long time, but they lacked the personal discipline to sustain their greatness such as Mike Tyson and Tiger Woods (although Woods should still be a part of this conversation). It takes a lot to be the best and not let up, especially when there are so many who are chasing you.
I will throw 2 names out there to start the discussion:
--Alexander Karelin was a heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Russia who did not lose a match for 13 years, won 3 Olympic Gold medals, and got a silver when he lost on a questionable call in 2000 (it was his 2nd match of the day and his American opponent was wrestling his only match of the day).
--Edwin Moses won gold medals in the 400M Hurdles at the 1976 and 1984 Olympics. Between 1977 and 1987, Moses won 107 consecutive finals (122 consecutive races) and set the world record in his event four times.
Who would you add to the list?
And who would get your vote?
