Since Thanksgiving only comes once a year, are there any dishes that you don't normally eat that you look forward to?
We always do the usual turkey and cornbread dressing which I can take or leave, but there are a couple of side items that are killer good. My cousin contributes Green Bean Bundles which are basically bundles of green beans wrapped in bacon covered in a brown sugar / butter/ worchestire sauce concoction (sounds nasty but it's pretty awesome when it's cooked) that are really great. I hate vegetables, but you could put that sauce on dog shit and would taste good.
Then there is this cornbread/spoonbread type thing that has green chilies and seasoned ground beef in it which is killer good. If I didn't hate cooking I'd learn how to make it so I could have it all the time (and I'd weigh about 400 lbs so it's good I hate to cook).
We usually fry the turkey but just doing smoked turkey this year because it's easier and with all the relatives there are about 20 mouths to feed. The rest of the stuff is pretty run of the mill stuff, with usually pumpkin pie and an HEB turkey cake for dessert.
Any specialty items on your menu?
I know RRS can be combative some times and at times I'm at the center of it, but I hope all of you have a great Turkey Day with your family and friends. Hopefully we'll all enjoy a few Red Raider victories during the long weekend as well!
