We talk from time to time about our best season(s) ever, favorite game, etc. The easy picks are 2008 and the 08 Texas Game. Some of you will still say 2008. Sometimes we forget some of those 9 Win teams and moments. I will post the 9 Win seasons below. Just curious, but what year was your favorite year? (Your's might not be one of the one's on the list, tell us about it.)

2009 9-4 Mike Leach Won the Alamo Bowl vs Michigan State Final Ranking was #23/#21
2007 9-4 Mike Leach Won the Gator Bowl vs Virginia Final Ranking was #23/#22
2005 9-3 Mike Leach Lost the Cotton Bowl vs Alabama Final Ranking was #19/#20
2002 9-5 Mike Leach Won the Tangerine Bowl vs Clemson

1995 9-3 Spike Dykes Won the Copper Bowl vs Air Force Final Ranking was #20/#23
1989 9-3 Spike Dykes Won the All-American Bowl vs Duke Final Ranking was #16/#19

1941 9-2 Dell Morgan Lost the Sun Bowl vs Tulsa

1940 9-1-1 @Pete_Cawthon

I love TTU Football, win or lose, all of the time. I will be at TCU Thursday and am already sad that we are almost halfway through this season. That being said, I really loved the 1989 team and season.

I was born in '76 so I didn't witness the really good Jim Carlen and Steve Sloan days. They look and sound amazing! My family moved to Lubbock in 1984. So my first seasons at the Jones were under Jerry Moore. MOORE EXCITEMENT!!!!! David McWilliams took us to my first bowl game but left us before the bowl to take the UT job. His assistant coach, Spike Dykes took over, lost the bowl game and then went 11-11-1, including that bowl loss over his first two seasons.

Then came 1989.

We opened the season up by beating #20 Arizona 24-14. We beat Oklahoma State on the Road and then returned to Lubbock where we took down #19 A&M 27-24. We did lose Road games at Baylor and at Arkansas, but we beat Rice, TCU, SMU and #22 Texas by the score of 24-17. We lost at Houston but then beat #20 Duke in the All-American Bowl. Jamie Gill, James Gray, Anthony Lynn, Travis Price, Anthony Manyweather, Charles Odiorne, Tracy Saul, Sammy Walker, Matt Wingo, and Lin Elliott were some of my favorite standouts and this was the first season that I saw, knew and believed that we were and could be really special. I was 13 years old. I sat in the grass seats in my Junior High letter jacket. 29 seasons later, I measure each one against that one.
