Last night as I laid in bed thinking about how awesome this run has been, I began to think about what made me decide to become a Red Raider and thought I would pose the question to the board. Interested in hearing all the different responses.
I had an uncle who went to Tech in the early 70s. He was the only family member to have gone to tech before me. Growing up, I didn’t live close to him. But every birthday and Christmas he would send me Tech gear to wear. I always looked forward to birthdays and Christmas to get a new tech hat or tech shirt. He definitely brainwashed me from an early age.
Tech was the only school I applied to. Didn’t apply anywhere else. Figured, had I not been accepted I would cross that bridge when it came. Got accepted, left for Lubbock, graduated in 2010. Wouldn’t change it for the world. Loved every minute of my time at Tech.
My uncle unexpectedly passed away a month after I moved away from Lubbock. He was a season ticket holder in football, basketball and baseball. Bled Red and Black. I know he’s enjoying every bit of this ride in heaven. If I could chose one person to watch the game with Monday night, it would be him.
