With the season beginning and some roadtrips looming, I was looking at the Rangers’ radio affiliates for this season and was surprised to learn places like Caney, Kansas, and Elizabethton, Tennessee are part of the network. Because I’m competitive, I wanted to see if the Astros have similar arrangements, and they did (including Mexico City).
I’m wondering if the line that divides Rangers country from Astros country changes over time, and I’m particularly interested in learning about how West Texas has changed over the years.
Here’s what I believe the dividing line is from east to west:
Natchitoches, Louisiana, Carthage, Temple, San Angelo, straight through Midland-Odessa and then tapering off into Far West Texas and Dodgers county.
Based on affiliates, Oklahoma and West Arkansas belong to the Rangers before running into Braves country and Louisiana is divided into the north and south until turning into Braves country.
Missing anything?
