It’s been a while since I’ve been back to Lubbock for a “guys weekend.” I have a few thoughts for your reading pleasure:

1. Rawls Course. I was very impressed with course. It is in great shape and everyone was very friendly. Green fees were fair and the cart girls plentiful. My only negative was that the carts are in bad shape. Hopefully they will be getting new ones soon with GPS.

2. Blue Light. Still one of the best venues for live music. Good Friday night crowd. Wish I would have went there more during college.

3. Game. 11am games are the worst thing in sports. I was at both the Ole Miss and this game and the energy was lackluster at best. I don’t blame the students though. I wouldn’t be too excited to fight a hangover buy sitting in the sun to watch an average football team play for 4 hours. IMO, the die hard students will always be there, but it’s got to be an “event” to get the other ones to buy in. As far as people leaving at half, it’s hard to blame them. It was sneaky hot in the sun, 1st Q was a beat down, and lots of parents in town. I stayed even though I gave us no chance to make it competitive. I was wrong and I’m glad they didn’t fold.

4. Outfits. Man has the dress code changed in 10 years. Seemed like 10 years ago the girls wore jean skirts, jersey, and boots. Obviously not the case anymore. I was shocked at the outfits (not complaining though). Even more shocking was they were wearing them while walking around with their parents. I’m sure the dads were a little uneasy.

5. Broadway. Chimys gets more dangerous the older you get. Also gets more depressing. I was the “old” married guy I use to make fun of 10 years ago. Margs have also increased from $5 to $6. Damn inflation.

Would love to hear non-football feedback from you guys. We have enough threads on the actual game.
