Kliff said this at the recruiting dinner and recently at the Tech night ranger game. My early feel is a 6-6 team maybe 7-5 which mainly centers around concerns on OL and defense.
So maybe he is trying to generate hype and sell tickets or hopefully he actually believes this.
Given the losses of players we have had I infer that he feels good about the OL. Not great depth but we will probably add a transfer and you have 6-7 deep which isn't great but has gotten us through and I would think that speaks well to Murphy.
Kliff is an offensive guy and I think the main driver is that he thinks Pat is going to break through in a huge way this year. Skill position wise if Lauderdale comes back we really are about as loaded as we can be. I respect Kliff but I wonder if we aren't as bad as we think with depth which allowed the dismissals to be easier.
I also think he has to feel the defense is going to take a considerable step forward. DL and LB have a chance to be good and Nigel needs to come back at corner but if Polite Brey is legit we may surprise.
Anyway this is my over analyzation of his now multiple public comments on next years team.
I think the defense will be better. If the OL steps up then we could surprise and the team could be as good as last year and we should have won 8-9 last year sans the fluke bounce. Also his best year we won 8 so the bar is 8 for next year which if it happens would explode hype for 2017 if Pat comes back.
