Way OT: Attic Insulation.....

Today I am planning on renting an insulation blower from Lowe's and adding a substantial amount of insulation in my attic over the next 24 hours. The machine rental is free if I buy at least 20 bags of cellulose insulation, which will be no problem...I expect to need 40 bags, or probably even more.

Has anyone ever done this themselves? For those of you that have done it, any tips on things to avoid, or make sure I do correctly? Is renting a machine from a big box store the best option for this type of job? Could you tell a difference in your home's temperature during the summer afterwards? Any advice is appreciated.

Full Disclosure: I realize that I am an idiot for doing this in August. I have made peace with that.
