So I got hammered by Harvey. I currently have 4.5 feet of water in the house, and due to reservoir releases that level is expected to be maintained for months. I've posted some pics below.
Here's where I need to tap into the collective intelligence, ingenuity, and ADD of the RRS community. I can't afford for this house to be torn down & rebuilt. I actually love this house in its current form. If water sits in the structure for 2-3 months I've been told that I'll need to tear down the entire structure. It will take me years to assemble the funds to rebuild.
I've had a few vodkas, and this is my idea -
I need to find a way to slow down water from entering the doors and windows, seal the areas around the doors/windows where water creeps in, and then pump water out of the internal environment.
I currently have no electricity in the house (breaker shut off, but I had electricity as recently as Tues when I visited and killed the breaker) but I'm sure it's still functional if I can get the house to a safe state. Maybe pump water out with gas an then flip over to elec after the water levels reside?
I have 3 doors, and 9 windows that are on the first floor and susceptible to ingress water right now. How can I insulate each ingress/egress to slow down water flow?
I don't expect to halt all inbound water flow, but if I can ship it out at a faster rate than it comes in, then I'll be in decent shape.
Please let me know if I'm reaching here. I have no flood insurance and I'm just trying to find a way to minimize a six-figure loss. If I have to eat it I'll eat it, but I want to go down swinging. Pics below.
