To keep a long story short, my dad (who is retired Navy, and a Vietnam veteran) is on his very last legs from a combination of lung cancer and congestive heart failure. We thought last Sunday was going to be the day but luckily he was able to pull through. The doctors were very transparent with us that he will be lucky to make it 3 more months.

My question is whether any of you know of a lawyer in the central Texas area who would be willing to help a veteran with a very low fee or pro bono. Essentially the debt/asset ratio is extremely poor and my mother is also in terrible shape health wise, so there is no way that she will be able to take on the debt when he passes. I don't want her to lose their house, etc.

He has a claim with the VA for 100% disability from his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam but they have not ruled on that and it has been about a year. Needless to say that would have been the help they needed this entire time, because at this point we are going to struggle to even pay for the burial/etc.

If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be huge. Thank you!
