Cliffs: The House passed a good appropriation for the vet school ($17.35MM). The senate only earmarked $4.17MM and wants approval from the Higher Ed commission...not ideal. Now the bill goes to conference committee. We need that committee to adopt the House version, NOT the senate version.
There was some talk that Lubbock's Dustin Burrows would be appointed to the conference committee on the House side...that did not happen. Below are the folks that hold the vet school's future in their hands. Not a single Tech grad. Not a single member who resides west of I-35. Heavy, heavy Houston influence...this is about as bad of a conference committee as we could have gotten.
If you live in their districts, call them every day. Even if you don't live in their districts, it does not hurt to overwhelm their phones and emails with your support for the House version. This is absolutely an uphill battle, but we can still swing it our way!
