Before I say what I have to say, though this is probably wasted breath, this post is an effort to explain my position and to see if there is any logical reason for me to change how I see things.
To my point...the national discussion and corporate vaccine mandates are extremely illogical to me right now. I will break down my reasoning by enumerating my points so that people can share counter points. We're all adults here, so I can't control how you respond (hopefully I will be able to control how I respond, lol) so let's keep the name calling and vitriol out of this thread. I look forward to your thoughtful counterpoints and the fruitful discussion that will follow.
1) The Vaccine is effective ( I will keep the safety argument out of this for now, it has nothing to do with my current point) - The vaccine has been extremely effective on the original strain that spread. However, the Delta variant learned how to thrive in a vaccinated environment. The rationale for people to choose to get the vaccine is still there. It isn't, however, to avoid getting Covid, it is to survive it. In order to be most effective, it is said that you must currently have one booster shot due to the Delta variant.
2) Since the vaccine is effective, those who are vaccinated are now safe from death. However, it does not prevent infection in a vaccinated person nor does it prevent them from spreading the virus to others. Among the possible scenarios for spreading COVID 19, a vaccinated person could catch it and spread it unknowingly to people who are vaccinated and unvaccinated. In this scenario, every human on earth is a risk to other humans whether they are vaccinated or not.
3) Unvaccinated People are among those with the greatest risk - This group breaks down into two sub groups. Previously infected and not previously infected. The people who are at the greatest risk, in this scenario, are the unvaccinated who have never been infected with COVID. As an aside, there are many who would be assumed to have never had COVID by those who review data, because many people including myself have had it but never been tested. Many families will have one person test positive, then the rest get the same symptoms but only one person was tested and confirmed.
4) Previously Infected People have the strongest immunity - This is a group that is completely left out of the broader national discussion. Project Veritas recently video taped two Pfizer scientists who confirmed natural immunity antibodies are better because they know how to fight the whole virus, not just the protein spikes. That is also why those who were previously infected have had much less incidence of severe symptoms. I am referencing the numbers that came out of Israel a couple of months ago. New cases reported were 60% unvaxxed and not previously infected, 39% vaxxed, and 1% previously infected but not vaxxed. I am also referring to myself here, from personal experience. I cared for my family while they had it and I didn't develop any symptoms. To clarify, I believe that I had it again and could have spread it, but did not have any symptoms.
5) The vaccine protects you from death. EVERYONE can catch and spread the virus. Being in a room with a vaccinated person does not protect you from catching it from them. So, why mandate the vaccine to protect the vaccinated? There are people in many industries, if not all, that either have lost their job or are about to because they choose not to submit to a vaccine mandate. The main message is that we need to get everyone vaccinated so that people can feel safe when they go into a business and know that they cannot catch it. That is literally what Joe Biden said at a recent presser. That is just not logical. The SAFEST and most protected people are those who have a natural immunity to the virus (which includes people who have been vaccinated and have been previously infected.) The next safest are those who are vaccinated. Those that fit neither category are taking their own chosen risk, and posing ZERO additional risk of spread to the vaccinated and previously infected.
It would only make sense to focus on treatments now so that everyone that is infected can be treated quickly if they develop symptoms. Those who choose to get vaccinated going forward have all the opportunity to do so. Until they do, they only pose a threat to themselves. I recognize the concern over hospital utilization. That's why you set up Monoclonal Antibody treatment centers like you did with the vaccines. It will take the same amount of effort as setting up mass vaccination centers, and it makes more sense than to fire those healthcare workers who choose not to take the jab. That last point should tell you that the healthcare community isn't even unified on the decision to get the jab.
Where is my logic flawed?
