Because cost of college education has doubled since 2003, UT System is largest public university to offer free online courses to provide relief to many college bound students. Designed to allow high school students to almost complete their freshman year free. MOOCs have been around for a while from private universities, but this is new. They are basically AP or CLEP prep courses, allowing students to test for credit. They promise many more to come.
