Gamble unofficially visited Tech today, which was his second unofficial this off-season as he previously came up on February 23rd. Gamble is currently rated as a 5.7 3-star corner and the #83 player in the state of Texas. Gamble also recently named Texas Tech in his top 5 along with Cal, Kansas, UTSA and Duke.
How this visit compared to his last one, back in February:
"It was a lot different, I brought my mom with me and we started off with a meeting with Coach Wells and then coach Juice was with us the whole day."
Thoughts on the visit and if it helped Tech's chances with him:
"Yessir I loved the visit, yeah it definitely did I was able to build a better relationship with coach Juice."
Visit plans moving forward:
"I plan to take some more visits to my top 5 schools and also take all 5 of my officials to those top 5 schools."
Commitment timeline/plan:
"I'm planning to be committed hopefully before August 1st but if not the before my first game of my senior season."
My thoughts: I think Gamble is a priority for Tech, one of the highest rated "realistic" targets on the board. The competition in his top 5 isn't anything Tech shouldn't be able to overcome. I watched Gamble play in person last year against TCA (I was there to watch 2019 DE offer Justin Moore) and he really impressed me, had a pick 6 in that game.
Gamble's plan to be committed before the season contradicts his plan to take all 5 officials, with the dead period coming up next week I don't believe there's enough time for him to go see every school.
Tech has 5 defensive backs (6 if you count Jabar Triplett who is a safety/outside backer) with offers coming in for visits this week, and we'll see if any commit if that makes Collin speed his process up.
