Mansfield (Texas) Timberview defensive end Michael Badejo was on campus today for an unofficial visit and connected with us this evening to discuss his day at Texas Tech.
------
MC - "So tell me about the visit, when did you arrive and what did you do first?
MB - "I arrived at 10am and Coach (Emmett) Jones gave me a quick tour around the football offices before the tour guides came over. We were with each other for a good 20 minutes and then I met up with Coach (David) Gibbs, Coach (Mike) Smith, Coach (Zac) Spavital, and Coach (Eric) Morris. They took me through the weight room area, the team meeting rooms and I got to put on all the jerseys and helmets.
MC - "What else did you get to do while on campus today?"
MB - "After meeting with the coaches, we all ate at this place that was out by the golf area. We also toured the campus and I met the people that will tutor me. We went to the rec center and I noticed the swimming pools, man my little brother would love it out here. I have to bring him a few times."
MC - "Did you and the coaches talk about a potential offer from Texas Tech?"
MB - "Offer wise, the coaches told me they will come check me out next week because we have like a combine at our school. Coach Jones said they want to see how I move around and that I could receive the offer afterwards."
MC - "You mentioned meeting with the coaches, did you watch film or sit in on any meetings today?
MB - "Yes sir, me and Coach Spavital had a one on one with film, then I was in position meetings with the linebackers. It was great, a dream come true. I did get to talk with some of the Tech linebackers, but mostly talked with No. 18 Micah Awe, he's a great player."
MC - "You mentioned meeting with most of the defensive coaches and
even the defensive coordinator David Gibbs, did they speak with you
about playing defensive end, outside linebacker or both?
MB - "Both, when I went out there today they called me "The Specialist" because I can play more than one position."
MC - "What would you say was your favorite part of the visit today?
MB - "It had to be trying on the jerseys. Right when I put it on with the helmet, then I felt like I was in an actual game. I was thinking to myself that Texas Tech is home and it's the place to be!"
MC - "What did you think of the city of Lubbock?"
MB - "People had told me there is nothing out there in Lubbock, that it's empty and it's just dry. So I believed them at first, but then I was like I'm going to visit and find out for myself. So I did and I enjoyed what I saw. Now I know just that for the future, always find out stuff for your own good. So I learned something new, but I really enjoyed it."

Badejo expects the coaches to offer when they visit Mansfield Timberview for spring practices. We will stay in touch with the 6-foot-3, 220-pound prospect to see where things go with the Texas Tech coaches moving forward.
