Was brought to my attention over the weekend that several folks have aired complaints to the Athletics Department and TTU Administration with regards to the Gringo song played during a pitching change by the opposing team. I believe this song has been around TTU baseball since at least the early 90's (close to 25 years). While I wouldn't call it a school tradition, I would certainly call it a long lasting standard operating procedure for TTU baseball fans. We have seen an ever increasing pursuit of political correctness by the timid souls of many a "leadership" group. I see this as another infringement by a very vocal minority upon the silent majority. Should we expect the Matador Song to become the next focal point- after all, who would not be offended by celebrating a blood-thirsty assault and killing of the lonely bull?
