Trump and Justice Dept. Lawyer Said to Have Plotted to Oust Acting Attorney General
Trying to find another avenue to push his baseless election claims, Donald Trump considered installing a loyalist.
Trump and Jeff Clark (acting head of the United States Department of Justice Civil Division) plotted to replace Acting AG Jeffrey Rosen. Clark wanted to become AG and announce they were investigating election fraud, Dominion Voting machines, and Georgia’s election. All ahead of the Biden certification.
At the WH Mr. Rosen and Mr. Clark presented their arguments. At the meeting WH Legal Counsel Pat Cipollone also advised Trump not to fire Rosen. Trump was informed by Mr. Engel (US Asst AG for Legal Counsel) that he and other DoJ’s top officials would resign in mass if he fired Mr. Rosen. After about 3 hours Trump decided Mr. Rosen could stay.
