Thinking of making a last minute trip to Boston area. First time. Looking for recommendations outside of the ones I can easily find on Google (Freedom Trail, Fenway Park, Harvard). Willing to travel to other places nearby as well....doesn't need to be Boston specifically.
-Planning to check out Concord, MA. Old North Bridge where American Revolutionary War started, Walden Pond where Ralph Waldo Emerson lived for a couple year, Sleepy Hollow Cemetery
-Has anyone been to Salem, MA? Thought about taking the ferry over there but I'm thinking I won't like it. Too touristy and the museum has very average reviews. Very mixed reviews overall from folks.
-Plymouth, MA: I've always heard this was a tourist trap. The rock doesn't look very impressive. Thinking this is also a pass.
-Portland, Maine, Newport, RI, Providence, RI, and Provincetown (by ferry) are some other places I briefly looked into but don't feel strongly about.
-Sam Adams Brewery worth checking out? Or pass.
-Will probably check out JFK Library and Museum to cross another presidential library off my list.
