My wife and daughter are spear heading getting a dog. I don't want one, but I am not dying on this hill. We found a cute rescue dog, that is a mix of some type of wire hair Terrier and Chihuahua. Does not sound too appealing, but rest assured he is very good looking smaller dog.
He does check a lot of boxes for a house with a smaller size back yard. However, my one concern is you can tell the dog has endured some type of abuse. He is a touch timid for a 14 week pup, especially around men. He is really good with the two kiddos.
One option I might have if we do not go with this dog is getting an already trained out of the box dog not a puppy. I have had trained hunting dogs in the past, and they were some high dollar K9's, but what I am more interested in would be more of the trained household dog. Do you guys know any places TX based that deal with selling trained household dogs?
Breeds I would be open to would be labs, german shephard, and really any medium sized dogs even if they were a mix breed.
