As soon as the football schedule was released, I made hotel reservations at the Towne Place Suites for the games I thought I could/would attend. The price was so low ($92/night) I wondered if something was wrong (although I have stayed there in the past and the rooms were acceptable), so fortunately I made a second set of reservations at Holiday Inns, also. My thought was that they did not yet realize those weekends were Tech football weekends and had not yet jacked up the rates.
My sister's grandson graduated from the Naval Academy this past May (2022) and last year (June 2021) they made reservations in Annapolis for the May graduation weekend. They got a rate of $55 at a really nice hotel. The hotel staff called two weeks later and said the quoted rate was a mistake. It was supposed to be $450 per night, but my brother-in-law convinced them that he would sue them for bait and switch if they did not honor their reservation. They stayed for $55/night for three nights.
Today, I received a text advising the Towne Place Suites were being closed for renovation! Who in the hell thought it was a good idea to close the hotel in football season for renovations? Now is a tough time to be making reservations for the Texas game. I feel for those whose reservations were affected.
