Tortilla throwing

In my opinion it's one of the most unique traditions we have and I love it when my friends ask me about it. I don't have a recollection of when it started though. I was an equipment manager in the late 80's and don't remember our students throwing them then. Seems like it was early 90's. Anyone know when it started? I assume it happened on a whim by a student or two and snowballed from there. I'll be at the Baylor game with my grandkids and hope the sky is filled with them.
