I had a chance to see new Tech 2017 QB commit Xavier Martin workout and throw at the Red Raiders' New Braunfels camp in June, and to be totally honest, I knew next to nothing about him going into the camp other than he had played RB/WR last year, was making the move to QB.
I was very, very impressed with what I saw over the next two-ish hours or so.
Martin was the best quarterback at the camp, and he dropped some dimes downfield to several wide receivers that earned audible oohs and ahhs from the folks in the stands, other players at the camp, and even the Tech coaches.
He's also an elite athlete, as he ran a 4.35 in his 40 that day. Overall, when comparing him to a guy like Jett Duffey, I'd say that right now he might be a hair taller than Jett, is faster, and has more arm strength, but he's still developing a bit with his accuracy and mechanics as a guy that hasn't played much quarterback yet.
But, he'll be the fast QB the Red Raiders have had at any point in recent memory, for sure. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing him play this fall.
