We are five weeks into the season college football season and the weather is starting to cool, simply put, we on this message board are “in the thick of it.” But after a tough loss, when the waters are muddied, perhaps it is best to pop up for some air and look around.
Before the season started, opinions varied, but the general consensus on the board was that this Tech (2015) football team was good for seven or eight wins. There was also a perception that if Tech could win one out of the three in the gauntlet that was Arkansas, TCU, and Baylor – Tech would be in a good position to have a solid campaign. Well …. Tech won one, played one close, and got blown out by another.
Looking ahead Tech faces opponents with a comprehensive, and rather pedestrian, 18-12 record. Tech will only need to be just as mediocre and win four of those games. Barring a Tech catastrophe against Iowa State or Kansas, Tech realistically will only need two wins from the group of oSu, OU, KSU, WVU, and UT to meet the minimum standard of fan expectation.
It is all about perspective. So I say to you, the season starts now.
