Buddy of mine finally convinced me to start playing Golf. He's even throwing in a decent set of clubs for free (according to him anyway, but they are Titleist so at least Ive heard the name), in the mean time Im hitting with a set borrowed from a friend (WIlson). Not real picky about the clubs at this point. Got a practice net for the back yard and a putting mat for the garage.

I KNOW there are some PGA tour pros on the board, so just looking for some advice on how to really get started and at least become good enough I can play a round with a group of friends and not completely embarrass myself. Paying for lessons worth it? Ive got about 12-15 hours per week to dedicate to it, give or take.

Currently 44 years old and probably about 50 lbs overweight. Although I was pretty athletic in HS (football, basetball, baseball, track) Its been quite a while since Ive done anything athletic and am pretty out of shape.

Any advice is appreciated.
