A win against either of these teams would have locked in an NCAA bid, but now the Red Raiders are staring down a must win against Texas on Thursday in the Big 12 Tournament. It wouldn't be a great look to the committee to drop five straight games. However, Tech's NET ranking of 22 is keeping them in the mix. Most would agree that this game on Thursday is a play-in game, with the loser being booted from the NCAA Tournament. Another factor will depend on how other teams on the bubble end up. It will be interesting and also worrisome to see what would happen on Selection Sunday if the Red Raiders did end up losing to the Longhorns.
One would have to think that if Tech plays with as much fire and energy as they did for the Baylor and Kansas games, they should beat the Longhorns. Then again, UT will have their backs against the wall giving it their all.
