RRS is receiving strong indications that senior quarterback McLane Carter, who began the 2018 season as the team's starting quarterback, intends to transfer out of the Red Raider football program. Carter appeared in 10 games for Texas Tech as a sophomore and junior, completing 51-of-97 passes for 677 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions.
Carter is originally from Gilmer, so nearby Stephen F. Austin would seemingly be a logical choice, as would Incarnate Word (Eric Morris) or Houston Baptist (Zach Kittley) where he could reunite with former Texas Tech coaches. Carter began his collegiate career at UIW before heading to junior college.
Additionally, Sam Houston State transfer quarterback Caleb Griffin is no longer on the Texas Tech football roster. He sat out the 2018 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
