I did not make this quiz because I was wondering where most of the fanbase stood with the current state of the football program, I feel like we've all made that abundantly obvious. We are not happy with the direction or the current state of things. However, I thought it would be interesting to see it in this format with specific questions asked, rather than just screaming into the void.
896 of you participated in the survey, which was awesome. I would be interested in the results of this same survey if non-RRS members took it, maybe I'll do that next. Anyway, here it is...
This was actually more positive than I anticipated. I voted F" for what it's worth. I think a coach's grade, while active, can only be an A or an F. Is he pulling the program in the right direction or is the program regressing? After a coach's tenure, then a full scale letter grading system can be applied. It's painfully obvious that this program is not heading in the right direction, blame whoever or whatever you want, but that is not debatable.
Again, I was surprised at the majority here. Year two should be better, it wasn't, so that is a step back in my mind. That could be because there was a place for Matt Wells to step back from, that may not be true for many of you based on your initial opinions of him. I would also like to sit down and have a talk with the 52 (5.8%) of you who think we are headed in the right direction... maybe that "right direction" is firing people.
Less surprising responses here, this is just playing the odds. I voted for 4-6, until I see otherwise, those will be my expectations. And that just sucks.
The only surprise here is the majority, I thought it was be more evenly split. I also voted Eazy, I assume that a combination of Thompson's just ok season and no proven quarterback make this decision easy for most people. I am excited to see how Cumbie gets him the ball, for whatever you think about his time at TCU, he got his best players the ball.
Just like with the offensive question, I was surprised by the majority. Especially surprising considering Schooler hasn't even been on campus a year, although, it helps when you play like he did (and have a highlight like his hit on Brewer). I chose Riko, he has his faults, but I love the attitude he plays with and I feel like I've known him for a decade now.
Texas Tech... Texas Tech's best position group is linebacker... that is shocking. I agree, that's what I voted too, but it's still shocking. That group has the most talent and production of any other group on the team, we are a long way from pinning our hopes on a converted fullback. This chart is the most accurate, in my opinion, in terms of where the percentages fell. Linebacker, Receiver, Running back are the unquestioned strengths of this team.
Just like the one above, this chart is incredibly accurate with my feelings and reality. The only thing I would change is the quarterback percentage, it is the most important position on the field and can cover up a lot of other issues, so Tech having a big ol question mark there is incredibly concerning.
This results here are more shocking than the team's best position group question. Over 90% of diehard Texas Tech football fans are concerned with the offense compared to just over 6% concerned about the defense. It's shocking how quickly we got to this extreme. I voted for the offense too, you can get by with an average to below-average defense in modern college football, but you will not win with a bad offense. Cumbie has his work cut out for him.
Like I said above, this is a problem. We have nearly 75% banking on a freshman, and then 10 pages of suggestions. If this question is not answered, we will have another painful season.
