All year I've thought this team was an athletic big & a couple shooters away from being elite. I've seen a lot of posts about Tech's rebounding issues being their downfall, so I figured I'd look at the stats to see their strengths and weaknesses on paper.

Offense (Big 12 Rank)

- Scoring - 72.5 ppg (7th)
- FG % - 43.39% (6th)
- FGM - 739 (4th)
- 3pt % - 35.4% (4th)
- 3PM - 185 (8th)
- 3PM per game - 6.4 (9th)
- FT% - 71.0% (6th)
- FTM - 450 (3rd)
- Off. Reb. per game - 11.6 (4th)
- APG - 13.10 (6th)
- Turnovers - 10.8 (1st)

Defense (Big 12 Rank)

- Opponent scoring - 63.2 ppg (1st)
- Opponent FG% - 41.12% (8th)
- Opponent FGM - 631 (6th)
- Opponent 3pt % - 34.2% (3rd)
- Opponent 3PM - 200 (4th)
- Opponent FT% - 68.1% (T-1st)
- Opponent FTM - 371 (4th)
- Opponent RPG - 33.3 (3rd)
- RPG - 34.9 (7th)
- Def. Reb. per game - 23.3 (8th)
- Opp. turnovers per game - 16.0 (2nd)
- Blocks per game - 4.0 (3rd)
- Steals per game - 7.14 (5th)

Margin (Big 12 Rank)

- Scoring Margin - 9.3 ppg (2nd) Baylor in 1st with 18 ppg. Wow.
- Rebounding Margin - 1.7 (6th) the Top 5 teams are the 5 teams who finished ahead of Tech in the B12.
- Turnover Margin - 5.21 (2nd)
- Assist/Turnover Ratio - 1.21 (3rd)

Takeaways
- Tech rebounded and blocked shots better than I thought.
- 3PT % is better than I expected, but they shot so few of them in comparison that the concern was legitimate.
- Tech was 1st in opponent's PPG but only 8th in opponents FG%. That's entirely due to causing so many turnovers and limiting FG attempts.
- Only 10.8 turnovers per game is pretty impressive for a team without a true point guard.
- While Tech missed some brutal FTs this year, and what seemed like an exorbitant number of front end of 1&1's, they apparently lucked out with their opponents shooting poorly at the line.
- While I still would love to add an athletic, rim-protecting big, I think finding shooters/scorers is the top priority. ESPECIALLY if McClung & Shannon leave.
- I'm very interested to see how Beard handles this offseason. I expect 3-5 new scholarship players, including Jaylon Tyson who has already signed.
