Crazy how only 4 teams get to the Final Four in a given year, but in all but one of our losses since Beard became coach we have lost to the team that came out of our part of the bracket
2022-23: NC State, TBD but Final Four at least
2021-22: Duke, lost in Final Four
2021-22: Arkansas, lost to Baylor (national champ) in Elite 8
2018-19: Virginia, national champ
2017-18: Villanova, national champ
Of course I always want to get farther than we have, but one thing about that stretch is we don't have a bad loss like a Perdue or Kentucky. We've gone down to good teams playing really well. And we've competed. I think we played Nova as close as anyone did that year. Arkansas won by 2 when we missed with a couple seconds left. Duke was 5 points and they didn't miss for something like 58 minutes straight in that game in order to win. This year was probably the least competitive we were in those games, but in retrospect NC State is handling everybody pretty easily.
