I just saw this video on Twitter, and had to say something...
The Texas Tech football team is NOT a political organization. It is wholly inappropriate for our program to be organizing voter registration drives.
We can all recognize the reasons that college football teams have to address the BLM movement on some level, and the individual players absolutely have the inalienable right to express their personal views. However, the football program itself should remain politically neutral, and should certainly not serve as a platform for a dangerous Marxist movement, such as BLM.
Finally, community outreach is great, and in normal times it makes sense for Tech players to be directly involved in community activities, but should we be playing basketball with random kids during a pandemic? We are unnecessarily exposing a bunch of kids, and also risking our own football season by potentially exposing a bunch of our players. Can't we hold off on the pickup basketball games for a few months??
