- I asked Rabbit how much fun they're having in practice as they prepare for Ole Miss and the Texas Bowl. He said he really wasn't feeling practice today then he showed up and his mood changed. He said being in the facility is like being locked in for two hours with your brothers. However, the real fun and relaxation comes when he gets home to his daughter.
- Year one under coach Joey McGuire is all about his "swag," Rabbit said. He said he can't explain it but they just step onto a field with the highest confidence they have ever had. He attributes being in every game to the defense. "It's that defense, bro. I don't mean to toot the horn but we play defense at Texas Tech!"
- I brought up Reggie Pearson transferring and Rabbit's immediate response was "I'm sad, bro. That's an emotional topic." But then he flipped his mood by saying Reggie recently got engaged to his girlfriend. He said he called him screaming when he found out. Then he told Reggie he better see him at the combine when their time comes.
- Rabbit said he's big on family. He said he almost cried when he saw Tony Bradford on senior night, but now he's obviously returning. Muddy, on the other hand, was a true leader for the team. He said he would tell Muddy when he was slacking. He actually would tell him, "stop BS-ing" and that would trigger something in him to lock in and get after it.
- "This year will be the last time to experience this team so that's why this bowl game and winning those last three games at the end of the season mean so much to us because we know what we're capable of. We left so much on the table at the beginning of this season, especially the Baylor game. Like I broke my blender that night. That's why I got a new one with the bowl gifts. I broke my blender – and yeah a lot of guys just have that passion that I do like Behren (Morton). Behren has that kid love for the game. You can't question the love Behren has for football at all. Dude comes out here gives it his all every single day, smiling, he makes everybody better, he makes us better as a defense. It's a buddy-buddy system here."
