‘There is still a lot of thinking on the right that if big corporations are happy, they’re going to take the money they’re saving and reinvest it in American workers. In fact they bought back shares, a few gave out bonuses; there’s no evidence whatsoever that the money’s been massively poured back into the American worker.’
Sen. Marco Rubio
So this got me to wondering. Do any of you know any people that actually benefited from this tax cut? I know, as stated by Paul Ryan, that the tax cut (extra $20 in a check) is enough to pay for a Costco membership. But beyond that, does anybody know a person that actually got a bonus?
What did the bonuses a very small few companies shelled out average? A $1,000? $500? On a normal 2,000 hour work year that would mean workers received a one time bonus of between 25 cents and 50 cents an hour.
This tax cut was supposed to be to the great benefit of the American people. So I am asking if any of you know any real life human beings that had real benefits from the tax cut?
I know it is early. However, there is no doubt much of the money has been used for mergers and stock buy backs. Those things don't really benefit the vast majority of people who very tiny stock holdings and miniscule retirement accounts.
