I've always heard its great practice to take 2-3 interviews a year even when you have a good job and aren't necessarily looking for a new one. It helps you properly evaluate yourself and sometimes things pop up that you simply cannot afford to turn down. Also, maybe most importantly, you can practice your interview skills fairly regularly for when you actually are looking for a job.
I'm about to do this for the first time on Friday with a startup company in downtown austin. I've interviewed with other companies while having a job before, but this is the first time I'm truly doing it for speculation. I have a great job but I'm curious as of what's out there. It feels great to have that kind of freedom and I'm going to take advantage of this position.
Any of you guys do this? I'm curious how popular this methodology is especially with some of the younger professionals on this board.
