Just received an awesome new book produced by a fellow Red Raider. Sharing here as I know many of you will find it to be equally cool: Opus in Brick and Stone: the Architectural and Planning History of Texas Tech
The book is a visual chronicle that details the campus’ physical development including many historic images, drawings, plans, and interview/stories. Making this thread RRS relevant: there is an entire chapter devoted to the development of the Jones and it’s different phases, including a few historic renderings of expansion plans that never came to be. Really awesome stuff.
I met Brian (TTU Arch & Business Alumni) briefly more than a decade ago just as he was starting the journey of cataloging this unique history. While I did not stay in contact with Brian, we have many mutual acquaintances. I’ve received periodic updates over the years through them and have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to purchase a copy. I geeked out last week when I saw it promoted by Tech on social media.
Thanks to a partnership with the TTU Press, the 350+ page hardcover book is only $30. I would highly recommend every Red Raider snag a copy. Makes for a kick-ass coffee table book.
