Tech football just played the toughest stretch of 3 games they have played in a few years. While most of the college football world expected us to go 0-3 in that stretch, we went 1-2 and would have been 2-1 were it not for the unluckiest bounce of a ball I've seen in several years.

We beat an SEC team in their place, went toe to toe with a Top 5 team, and got run by the best offense in CFB. We won't play a tougher game than the two we just played. OU and WVU away will be tough, but neither are to the level of TCU or Baylor from a talent/scheme standpoint. We will be competitive in every game the rest of the year.

A big part of moving forward is our depth. Injuries are starting to mount and it's time for some backups to step up. That is what will make this team better than teams of the past. Building quality depth is a long-term process and we are well underway to restocking the cupboard. It's one of the primary differences in building a team versus building a program.

Since the end of last season, there have been three keys: limit penalties, take care of the ball, and stay healthy. I am going to add one more key: catch the damn ball. We are without 2-3 key receivers due to injury and we can't afford to miss opportunities when the right play is called and executed right up until the ball hits the receivers hand.

Here is the primary takeaway for me; if the team does what Kliff has been preaching - limit penalties and win the turnover battle - we have the coaching/talent/scheme to win 9-10 games.
