“Whiteness is never seen as a cause, in and of itself, of these kinds of massacres,” Ciccariello-Maher said in an interview with Democracy Now!, adding, “despite the fact that whiteness is a structure of privilege and it’s a structure of power, and a structure that, when it feels threatened, you know, lashes out.”
Help me out please. He was feeling threatened by (supposedly) non whites so he walks into a mostly "white" church and kills mostly white parishioners?
How are other whites threatening his "privilege" or "power"?
You would think the shooter would want to protect this group of people if he were protecting "white privilege".
What am I not getting?
