I get it. We miss the XP try, so we go for two on the next TD to hopefully cut the deficit from 5 to 3, instead of the XP try to cut it from 5 to 4.
However, seems to me that unless you think you'll only need one more TD to win the game, it makes no sense in the 2nd quarter to go for 2.
For instance, we'd be up three right now if you just go the XPs after each of the last two TDs. Seems like you'd want the ability to be down 4 then score another TD and at least have a FG lead.
I know why went for the last one - there's no point in being up 1 or 2 if you have an option to be up 3.
