RE: | Transformational $44 million gift and renaming College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources |
Today, we celebrated the
largest-ever philanthropic commitment to Texas Tech University and one of the most significant investments in people and programs in an agricultural college in the United States.
We do so thanks to the generosity of Gordon and Joyce Davis. A former Texas Tech faculty member, Gordon founded the multimedia company iCEV in 1984. His wife, Joyce, is a proud Texas Tech graduate of the Rawls College of Business.
Gordon’s passion for education and agriculture shaped his vision and ambition for adventure, first as a faculty member, then as an entrepreneur. Now, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and the entire university, benefit from the achievements fueled by that passion. We are grateful and humbled by their commitment to Texas Tech.
We also accept the challenge that is before us now – to continue the upward trajectory of the Davis College. We will continue on the path and take up Gordon’s mantle of ‘striving for honor in the pursuit of excellence.’
Please join me in thanking the Davises for their generous gift.
