Tier A games (vs top 50 adjusting for location) according to KenPom -
2018 - 13 Tier A games out of 31. 5 straight to end the regular season and that team lost 4 of those 5 before going on a run to the Elite 8.
2019 - 13 out of 31 again, including 4 out of 5 to end the year - and they won all 4.
2020 - 13 of 31 again. 3 of the last 4 and Tech lost each of these.
2021 - 12 out of 22 games. 9 of the last 10 have been Tier A games, I don't know if that has happened to anyone before. Tech is 4 and 5 in those games with Texas pending. The worst loss was probably to WVU at home and that was a 2 point game with 2:00 minutes left.
This is a streaky, incomplete, and flawed Tech team. They could definitely get bounced in the second round, but it's willfully disingenuous to say that they don't have a chance for an elite eight or final four.
And I don't believe in karma but they are certainly overdue a couple of good end of game bounces and calls as well.
