Kyler Edwards
“I feel like we had momentum at first but then they just kept coming back and getting tough buckets on us,” Edwards said on Texas Tech’s comeback effort. “Think that kind of derailed us and getting offensive rebounds.”
“We had a gameplan, working at it in practice all week and we just didn’t execute it as players,” Edwards said. We gotta boxout and do better next time.”
Chris Beard
“Disappointing and sorry we didn’t win on the scoreboard tonight but this is life in the Big 12,” Beard said. “Our guys wanted to win tonight. They played really hard for the most part. This is just life in the Big 12 – lose by five on your home floor to the No. 4 team in the country on a night where we just didn’t do a lot of things well enough to try to find a way to win the game.”
“The reason we didn’t play our best tonight was Baylor,” Beard said. “Just want to congratulate Baylor on a tough Big 12 road win. I’ve said before the game and I’ll be consistent, I think they’re worthy of their high ranking ... We’ll get back on the drawing board tomorrow, stay the course. Thought our guys played hard tonight. I know they wanted to win. We prepared to win. But it’s not that easy when you play against elite competition like this. Sometimes it’s just not your night.”
“I liked our guys poise tonight,” Beard said. “We had two-three freshmen out there sometimes. We’re going to be back in this situation a lot if we end up having the season we all want to have. You win close games and you sit up here, you know, it’s piñatas and parties, and when you don’t people are looking at you like somebody died. Nobody died. We just lost to the No. 4 team in the country by five points on our home floor in front of a sold-out crowd on a night where we just didn’t play well enough to win.”
“Offensively when Ramsey’s aggressive our team’s better,” Beard said. “So, he’s worked so hard on his 3-point shooting. I thought he did a lot of good things as did all of our players. I thought every one of our guys made a courageous play. We just didn’t play well tonight and it’s not an excuse, it’s reality. Why didn’t we play well ? Baylor.”
