As a quarterback, there are several things I really, really love about new QB commit Jett Duffey.
First, while he may be a bit shorter, I'm very impressed with the way he commands the pocket for a player his age. He'll climb the pocket, which many college QBs even have trouble doing, and he stands tall looking for his receivers. He doesn't panic under pressure, and he even takes a few hits on the chin while delivering great throws.
As far as scrambling, Duffey is very, very slippery, hands down the best scrambler that Coach Kingsbury will have on campus. He has a good feel of running around to open space, both on read-options and when scrambling.
Also, his accuracy is impressive, and while he doesn't have a cannon arm, he can zip some throws in there. He makes several "wrist flick" throws that look effortless and right on the money on his film, both short and long, gets really nice air under the ball. There are some downfield throws that he drops right in the basket that you just simply can't place better.
Overall, Duffey very much fits into the Kyler Murray/Johnny Manziel mold. Not saying he's a heisman trophy winner, but he's certainly that type of QB. He's accurate, puts zip on the ball, moves around in the pocket well, and can slip and slide when scrambling while stopping on a dime.
