Just got back home from the open part of practice. We went in a little later than expected but RC and I made notes from what we saw. A few things before the press conference with players and coach Wells starts:
1) RC and I both agree that Donovan Smith had a ton of zip on the ball and plenty of accuracy. QB room right now is Parker McNeil, Maverick McIvor, Donovan Smith, Henry Colombi, Behren Morton and Brylon Lawson-Young.
2) Sonny Cumbie had total control of the offense. His first year back in a while and this time as the OC. Obviously, this is expected for all coaches but it just stood out to us how involved he was. Not saying Yost wasn't because he definitely was. But spring practice No. 1 looked to be operating smoothly with Cumbie and the offense.
3) Eric Monroe ran out late to practice today once we left actually. Will ask if he was receiving some sort of treatment or something. He ran out in his helmet, jersey but in joggers/pants while everyone was in shorts. Didn't get to see where he went as we were walking off of the field. Riko is still recovering from surgery, too. He was involved with the linebackers with coach Kevin Cosgrove, though.
4) Loic Fouonji and Erik Ezukanma made plays at receiver. Saw a few one-handed catches made on some passes and some catches on some not-so-good throws.
