We are all expecting this Saturday to be the rowdiest Jones environment since November 2008. It is going to be a whole lot of fun for the team, students and fans.
Question for anyone in the know: has any thought been given to adjusting the timing and amount of jumbotron advertisements, on-field recognitions, etc. that seem to dampen the mood of the crowd? As soon as one of those events occurs, the crowd tempers down and turns their eyes to the big screen. In other instances i.e., third-down pump-up Gladiator clips, it seems like noise from the band would excite the crowd as well as keep the college football atmosphere intact.
Nothing is necessarily ruined by these extraneous events, but the quick change in mood is noticeable; and, at times, the atmosphere feels dissimilar to a traditional college football game.
(In no way is this post meant to be combative. I am very open to the possibility that I am an old man imagining things where they do not exist.)
