Throughout the game last night I kept thinking about how clean of a game we we're playing from a penalty standpoint... and that got me to thinking about how clean we really had been most of the year throughout the season.

I don't remember very many dumb personal fouls throughout the year. I cannot recall a single targeting call (may have been one somewhere). The PI's calls seemed to be much less than normal. I think that all goes back to the mental/physical toughness that this staff his engrained into these players. I think it can also speak to the techniques the coaches are teaching to help prevent unnecessary penalties.

Murray State-- 6 penalties, 55 yards
Houston-- 6 penalties, 44 yards
NC State-- 7 penalties, 69 yards
Texas-- 5 penalties, 31 yards
Kansas State-- 5 penalties, 40 yards
Oklahoma State-- 6 penalties, 50 yards
West Virginia-- 7 penalties, 7 yards
Baylor-- 4 penalties, 32 yards
TCU-- 6 penalties, 42 yards
Kansas-- 6 penalties, 47 yards
Iowa State-- 1 penalty, 8 yards
Oklahoma-- 9 penalties, 63 yards
Ole Miss-- 3 penalties, 15 yards

Total-- 71 penalties. 566 yards.
Average/Game-- 5.5 penalties/game, 43.5 yards/game

That's pretty impressive given the number of offensive snaps we typically run per game. I can remember times under the previous regimes where we'd rack up 70 penalties in 6 games.
